NCERT has released the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) 2020/2021 test pattern on the official website. NTSE 2020/2021 will be held in offline mode namely Pen-Paper mode at both State level examination (phase I) and national level examination (phase II). The NCERT scholarship test consists of two papers namely the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Both MAT and SAT papers for NTSE 2021 are conducted on the same day but, with two separate shifts i.e. Morning shift from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. MAT and Evening shift from 01: 30 pm to 03:30 pm SAT paper. The tests will be conducted at allocated testing centers only as included in the list of regions / UTs for state level testing and the NCERT examination for NTSE 2021 Stage II. Nominees must appear for the examination and their valid consent card as issued by the testing authority. The NTSE 2021 syllabus level is for Class 9th and 10th only. There is no syllabus determined by NTSE 2021 national standard or national assessment. The difficulty level for NTSE papers is at an average level.


Features of NTSE Exam Pattern -

Test mode - Paper-based tests (answers to be marked on OMR sheets)

Exam Medium - The language / intermediate instructions and questions will be in the candidates' choice from the language options provided by the state-run body. Phase 1 of the NTSE will be in English, Hindi or any other regional language. The phase 2 test will be in Hindi and English only. Applicants are required to choose the contents of the paper when applying for the test.

Total examination time - 120 minutes for all students except students facing challenges who are given 150 minutes for all papers.

Type of questionnaire - All NTSE country-level papers and tests at the national level are based on multiple choice type objective questions.
