Modi government's scheme: Pay only Rs 12 premium, government will provide security insurance through your Jandhan account


 The government will provide insurance cover to Jan-Dhan account holders.  Under this, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Vima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Vima Yojana will be brought under this.  This announcement has been made on the sixth anniversary of Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana.  In these six years, more than 400 million people have opened bank accounts under this scheme.

 Life insurance up to Rs 2 lakh will be available at a premium of Rs 330

 In a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, Jivan Jyoti Vima Yojana and Suraksha Vima Yojana are being provided to eligible account holders in Jan-Dhan Yojana.  Under Jeevan Jyoti Vima Yojana, bank account holders between the ages of 18-50 will be given life insurance cover of up to Rs 2 lakh on a premium of only Rs 330 for one year.  In case of any death of the account holder, this amount will be given to the nearest dependent.  The amount of premium will be deducted directly from the beneficiary's account every year.

 Only an annual premium of Rs 12

 So the security insurance scheme is for bank account holders aged 18-70 years.  For that, a premium of only Rs 12 is being provided for unintentional death up to Rs 2 lakh and disability insurance up to Rs 1 lakh for one year.  The scheme was launched in early 2014 by the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the beginning of its first term, one of the first most ambitious public schemes of the then government.  Its purpose was to bring that Indian into the mainstream of banking services.  Who did not have any bank account.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday tweeted that the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was launched on this very day six years ago with the ambitious goal of connecting those who do not have a bank account with banks.  This initiative brought significant change.  So far, more than 60 per cent of the more than 40 crore Jan Dhan accounts are in rural areas.  About 55 percent of them are women.  The major achievement of this scheme is that all the benefits received by the poor have started reaching the government directly through the Jan-Dhan account.
