DREAM 11 became the title sponsor of IPL-2020, buying rights for Rs 222 crore

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has got the title sponsor for the IPL season 2020. Sports fantasy league app Dream XI has bought the rights of the title sponsor for Rs 222 crore. This is a one-season contract only. Significantly, Chinese mobile company Vivo decided to step down as the BCCI’s title sponsor this year.

My bet to Dream XI

A new title sponsor has been announced to replace Chinese company VIVO for IPL 2020. Dream 11 has received this year’s IPL title sponsorship after Vivo dropped out of season 13. Dream 11 has bought the sponsorship rights for the IPL 2020 season for Rs 222 crore.

This bid is Rs 190 crore less than VIVO’s annual Rs 440 crore. The Tata group was also involved in the title sponsorship race. The IPL will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 19 to November 10 this year.

Significantly, the BCCI had earlier given Vivo leave for this season due to the growing dispute between India and China. Vivo acquired Rs 2,190 crore (Rs 440 crore for each year) as an IPL title sponsor for five years from 2018 to 2022. Vivo may return as the main sponsor again next year.
