Jio: We will make India 2G free - 35 crore cheap smartphones are launching.

 At the 43rd AGM of Reliance Industries, the company's chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani made several important announcements.

 Making the biggest announcement, Mukesh Ambani said that 5G service could be launched next year. Search engine giant Google has announced a partnership.

 Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani made another announcement saying, "We want to make India 2G free."  As announced by Mukesh Ambani, Google will buy a 7.7 per cent stake in Reliance Industries' digital hand Jio Platforms and invest Rs 33,737 crore.  Chairman Mukesh Ambani described the benefits of Jio and Google's partnership.

 Mukesh Ambani said that India is at the doorstep of the 5G era. He said his aim is to provide cheap smartphones to the 35 crore Indians currently using 2G phones. Video messages from Facebook owner Marg Zuckerberg and Google CEO Sundar Pichai were also heard at the AGM.

 He announced that Google and Jio will jointly create an operating system for entry level 4G / 5G smartphones. Together with Jio and Google will make India 2G free. We want smartphones in the hands of every Indian.

 Currently 350 million people in the country use feature or basic phones.  We want India to be 2G free and every Indian to have a smartphone.

 "We believe we are able to make entry-level 4G and 5G smartphones at current prices," said Mukesh Ambani.  For such a phone we need a smartphone operating system. Google and Jio will build such a smartphone operating system in India.

 With India now at the doorstep of the 5th era, we want 350 million people in the country who use feature phones to use smartphones now.  Jio is committed to providing affordable 4G phones to more than 300 million feature phone users in India.
