 The Modi government has taken a big step to provide relief to the farmers who are facing the Koro crisis and the countrywide lockdown. To avail the benefits of the central government's Pradhan Mantri Safal Vima Yojana, farmers across the country will have to submit all their required documents to the bank by July 31, 2020.

 It may be mentioned that under the government's scheme Pradhan Mantri Fasal Vima Yojana, compensation for crop damage caused by natural calamities is given to farmers.

 Disaster damage will be reimbursed

 Earlier, farmers could not work on their farms due to the corona virus lockdown and then cyclonic storm Amphan and nature destroyed farmers' crops.  Under the crop insurance scheme, the government will compensate the farmers.  There is no need to worry if a farmer is not associated with the scheme, in which case farmers can get big help from banks in case of crop loss.


 The bank has to be informed by July 31

 Farmers have to contact their bank branch before July 31, 2020 to avail the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme.  At the same time, the information requested by them has to be given.


 Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary said farmers would have to notify the address bank soon for the scheme.  For this, non-loan farmers can contact CSC, bank, agent or get crop insurance done on the insurance portal themselves.


 This document must be submitted

 To compensate farmers under PM Crop Insurance Scheme, you have to provide your bank with ID proof, address proof, farm survey number and proof of crop damage on the farm and a passport size photo of you.  The benefit of this scheme can be availed only if your area has been declared affected by a natural calamity by the Central or State Government, and you can avail the assistance only if your crop is damaged by 33% or more.


 Such natural disasters help

 Natural disasters such as earthquakes, avalanches, droughts, hurricanes, floods, fires, cloudbursts, crop worms, and cold storms can wreak havoc on farmers.  For this, first you have to inform the bank about the crop loss.  Also, if you have taken a loan, it is not possible to repay it.

 In case of crop failure, the farmer can contact the insurance company on toll free number 18002005142 or 1800120909090 for the purpose of claiming compensation.  In addition the aggrieved farmer can contact the insurance company and the agriculture department specialist.  A time limit of 72 hours has been fixed for the claim, the damage is paid to the farmers only after assessing the loss.
