 State Police Chief Shivanand Zha said that every effort is being made by the state police department to enforce the lockdown as strictly as possible to fulfill the mantra given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi - 'Stay home, stay safe and stay healthy as well as be responsible and accountable'.  .


 Shivanand Zha added that the concessions received for opening shops are subject to conditions, if more than four people gather and social distance is not maintained, strict action will be taken.  So that there is no rush in the purchase of essentials and citizens adhere to social distance as well as wear masks on the face and gloves if possible, it is imperative.

 He clarified that there should be no unnecessary movement of citizens in public as well as citizens leaving vehicles with only one person on a two wheeler and a maximum of two people in a four wheeler, otherwise the police will take legal action including vehicle confiscation.

 Appealing to the citizens not to gather at religious places even during the holy month of Ramadan, the police chief said that the police would monitor all religious places by drones and if any violation of the lockdown was detected, legal action would be taken.  He added that all areas of the state are being patrolled by the police, while in the hinterland, the lockdown is being strictly enforced by patrolling on motorcycles and on foot.

 Appealing to the citizens, Shivanand Zha said that if there is a crowd or a lockdown in any place, they should inform the police control room on 100 so that the violators can be prosecuted.  A total of 29 offenses were registered in the state on the basis of such complaints received at number 100 yesterday.  While 60 people were arrested in 33 cases yesterday on the basis of footage of private CCTV cameras installed in various societies in the residential area.  To date, a total of 444 people have been arrested in 257 cases.  Not only that, the police have also obtained details from the Intelligence Bureau in this regard and a case of breach of lockdown is being registered.


 If we look at the number of offenses of breach of declaration, a total of 2263 cases from 24/04/2020 to date, number of offenses of violation of law by quarantined persons (IPC 269, 270, 271) 991 and 413 other offenses (of Rioting / Disaster Management Act).  4500 accused have been detained.  Along with this 3599 vehicles have also been seized.  Police have released 5336 detained vehicles so far and 1,09,272 detained so far.
